Themes and contents of the workshops are the following:
Myths of migration
The workshop intends to help students to gain insights in the field of migration and asylum. The most important definitions, facts and figures about migration will be discussed. The objective is to dwell on the subject of stereotypes and to deconstruct existing myths on migration and asylum in order to foster a more sensitive approach towards those topics.
Inclusion – exclusion – everybody different, everybody the same?
The aim of this workshop is to challenge mechanisms of discrimination and stereotyping against different groups in society and to promote tolerance and solidarity in the daily life of the pupils.
The workshops will be conducted in the period from 23 April 2014 to 9 May 2014 in different schools in Vienna. The registration ends on 7 April 2014.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) again invite youth to submit original and creative videos of five minutes maximum focusing on PLURAL+ themes: migration, diversity and social inclusion.
Recognizing youth as powerful agents of social change in a world often characterized by intolerance, and cultural and religious divisions, PLURAL+ invites youth to address key challenges and opportunities related to social inclusion and cohesion, migrant integration, respect for identity, diversity, and human rights, both at local and global levels.
PLURAL+ supports young people's expression of their opinions by providing them with a variety of media platforms and distribution networks, including broadcasts, video festivals, conferences and events around the world.
A prestigious international jury will select three winners in each age category (9-12, 13-17, 18-25). International Jury winners will be invited to New York, all travel expenses paid, to present their work at the PLURAL + 2014 Awards Ceremony at the Paley Center for Media in December 2014.

Within the framework of the project "Grassroots Integration through Volunteering Experiences" (GIVE), a Speed Dating Event took place at the integration center of the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) in Vienna on 11 February 2014. The event was organized by Caritas Styria and IOM Vienna with the support of the ÖIF. The objective of the GIVE Speed Dating Event was to allow volunteer organizations and migrants interested in volunteer work to get to know each other, exchange information and make contact.
The response to the event of both the around 60 participating migrants and the eight participating volunteer organizations was very positive. The volunteer organizations, among them Amnesty International, Caritas Vienna, Viennese Hilfswerk, Malteser Care-Ring, Viennese Red Cross, Samariterbund, Telefonseelsorge Vienna and the association Menschen.Leben, presented their work and were able to respond to questions of interested migrants. The migrants, on the other hand, had the opportunity to gather information about the organizations of interest. Hence, direct contact between migrants and volunteer organizations was established.
At the end, participants continued a fruitful exchange about involvement in volunteer work enjoying drinks and snacks.

IOM Vienna together with IOM Pakistan has been implementing a project for the reintegration of voluntary returnees since 2012. The project, which is co-financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior and the European Return Fund, aims to support asylum seekers, recognized refugees, persons under subsidiary protection and persons currently residing in Austria who do not or no longer fulfil the conditions for staying in Austria and wish to return to Pakistan voluntarily.
In Pakistan, they receive in-kind assistance, for instance through small business start-ups, (vocational) trainings and/or further education. Particularly vulnerable project beneficiaries can also receive special support, for example for medical treatment or for temporary housing.
Project application is facilitated by Austrian return counselling institutions, whose contact details can be found here.
More information about the project can be found here.
